western acceptance facilityMaryland Environmental Service provides design, construction and operation of solid waste transfer stations:

The Western Acceptance Facility (WAF), at 3310 Transway Road in Halethorpe, MD, was designed and built and has been operated by Maryland Environmental Service since July 1, 1990. The facility accepts Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) transfer and curbside generated recyclables transfer.

The Central Acceptance Facility (CAF), formerly called the Baltimore County Resource Recovery Facility (BCRRF), at 10275 Beaver Dam Road, in Cockeysville, MD, was designed and built and has been operated by Maryland Environmental Service since July 1, 1990. The facility exists to serve the needs of Baltimore County residents in the areas of municipal solid waste transfer and the recovery and marketing of curbside generated recyclables. Recently, MES oversaw the design and construction of a new transfer facility at the CAF. In addition, MES oversaw the design and implementation of major improvements to the existing municipal recycling facility at the CAF. These improvements were necessary to allow for the installation of a single stream recycling system. The new transfer station began operations in June 2013 and the new single stream recycling facility is expected to begin operations in October 2013.
