Maryland Environmental Service is seeking a Lead Environmental Specialist to serve as an Environmental Reviewer, working at the Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Environmental Review Group office in Annapolis, MD. This position will provide ongoing environmental review services on State-based Transportation projects.
The selected person will work under the direction and guidance of DNR, Environmental Review Group management staff and will submit draft information for the manager's review. Assignments include environmental reviews of MDOT priority projects. The selected candidate shall coordinate closely with local, State, and Federal permit programs, particularly the MD Department of the Environment and the Army Corps of Engineers, as well as other Federal resource agencies.
Required qualifications for this position include: a Bachelor's Degree in environmental science, engineering, ecology, or a related field from an accredited college or university, plus 5 years of experience in environmental science, regulations, engineering or management, 2 of which must have included responsibility managing environmental projects and supervising environmental professional and technical staff. Must have a valid driver's license with less than 5 points.
Preferred skills for this position include: NEPA Section 404, MD Wetland and Waterways permitting, GIS, and the ability to read and understand construction plans.
