Maryland Environmental Service is seeking a Senior Project Manager within the Environmental Monitoring Division, working at both our Headquarters facility in Millersville, MD, as well as various Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) offices throughout Maryland. The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of project management where daily responsibilities may include budget development and management, coordination and management of technical staff, contractors and subcontractors, project monitoring, compliance reporting, client interaction, and personnel and financial management in support of a variety of concurrent projects related to TMDL, stormwater, environmental permitting, design/construction oversight, and other areas. Candidate should be aware that this position may require overnight travel as well as working at various field locations, statewide.
Required qualifications for this position include: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a recognized area of engineering, environmental sciences, project management, business/finance or related field, plus 6 years of applicable engineering, waste industry or environmental site assessment and remediation experience or other related field. Three years of this experience must have included managing technical staff and multi-disciplinary engineering or operations projects. Applicants should detail professional certifications, such as Professional Engineer, Professional Geologist, EIT, etc. Must possess the ability to communicate effectively and interact with clients, regulatory agencies, vendors and the public. Must have a valid driver's license with less than 5 points.
Preferred skills for this position include: strong verbal, technical writing and organizational skills; strong contract oversight experience, as well as familiarity with assessing transportation infrastructure conditions and remediation solutions; the ability to work in a team environment with all levels of client's engineering and operations staff, engineering firms and contractors to deliver project level and asset program level solutions under short time constraints; possess the ability to research and comprehend federal, state, and local laws, rules and regulations pertaining to environmental programs, material and construction specifications.
