Maryland Environmental Service is seeking a Senior Lead Environmental Specialist within the Environmental Monitoring Division at our Headquarters facility in Millersville, MD. The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of project and personnel management where daily responsibilities may include budget/scope of work development/management, ensuring compliance of environmental operations and monitoring activities with regulatory requirements, project monitoring/reporting, and client, vendor and staff interaction. These tasks will be in support of a variety of concurrent projects related to drainage, remediation, TMDL, stormwater management, environmental field data collection/inspection, geotechnical drilling inspection, permitting and other areas. The selected candidate will be responsible for the oversight and workload organization of a team of management and technical office and field staff, as well as coordination and management of contractors and subcontractors. Candidate should be aware that this position may require overnight travel as well as working at various field locations statewide.
Required qualifications for this position include: a Bachelor's Degree in environmental science, engineering, ecology or a related field from an accredited college or university, plus 6 years of experience in environmental science, regulations, engineering or management, three years of which must have included responsibility managing environmental projects. Assignment to some locations may require three years of supervising environmental professional and technical staff. Applicants may substitute an applicable advanced education degree for up to two years of required experience. Must have a valid driver's license with less than 5 points.
