Maryland Environmental Service is seeking an Environmental Specialist/Senior Environmental Specialist to join the Environmental Services Group at our Headquarters facility in Millersville, MD. The ideal candidate will have working knowledge of a wide variety of environmental compliance topics such as: compliance-focused environmental management system (CFEMS), stormwater permitting, maintenance, and program development, sediment and erosion control, invasive species management, and indoor air quality (including asbestos, lead-based paint, and mold). Additional project responsibilities may include environmental monitoring, compliance reporting, and supporting of a variety of concurrent projects related to CFEMS, stormwater, environmental permitting, design/construction oversight and other areas. This position will provide field support performing stormwater BMP inspections, sediment and erosion control inspections, construction inspections during stormwater BMP installations, stormwater sampling and other similar projects. Additionally, this position will include preparing technical documents, overseeing contractors, and interacting with clients.
Required qualifications for this position include: a Bachelors Degree in environmental science, engineering, ecology or a related field from an accredited college or university plus 1-3 years of experience in environmental science, regulations, engineering or management. Applicants may substitute an applicable advanced education degree for the required experience. Must have a valid driver's license with less than 5 points, possess the ability to lift 50lbs, and possess strong communication skills, both orally and in writing. Must be computer literate, specifically with respect to spreadsheets and word processing. Must have the ability to be self-directed as experience with the program increases, and must be able to successfully juggle multiple activities at once.
