Thomas Maulding, Vice President and General Counsel, Weller Development Company

Thomas Maulding is Vice-President and General Counsel of Weller Development Company. Mr. Maulding began practicing law more than 20 years ago, representing developers, lenders, landlords and other real estate professionals in all manners of transactions and dispute resolution. Mr. Maulding has a background in litigation, environmental law, and real estate.

Previously, he was General Counsel for Sagamore Development Company, where he was one of the original three employees. He set up, managed, and directed the organization of all affiliated companies, and was responsible for the maintenance of corporate records for all business entities. Mr. Maulding played an integral role in the acquisitions of the real properties that were purchased to create the Port Covington development project. His responsibilities included conducting due diligence and managing outside counsel in the negotiation and drafting of all of the sale agreements. Mr. Maulding also directed all of the environmental management of the real properties.

At Weller Development Company, Mr. Maulding will continue to manage outside counsel and play a key role in acquisition and disposition, leasing, financing, and development of all properties. His role includes overseeing risk mitigation, evaluating insurance requirements and the provision of appropriate policies, and directing any litigation matters that arise. Mr. Maulding works with the Weller Development team as well as the Weller Management team. He assists the project managers with the negotiation and drafting of all contracts and agreements. Mr. Maulding is ultimately responsible for finalizing and approving any contracts wherein the companies engage with any third parties. Mr. Maulding also works with the development team and management team to navigate regulatory and compliance matters, and manage all property rights.
