Ms. Marian Hwang was appointed to the Board of Directors of Maryland Environmental Service on July 1, 2021 and currently serves as the Chair of the Human Resources Committee.  She has been an environmental attorney with Miles & Stockbridge since 1987 and chairs its Environmental and Energy Practice.

Ms. Hwang’s representation of multinational, national, and local clients over the past 37 years has enabled her to develop practical solutions to complex environmental issues, whether involving complicated real estate/corporate acquisitions or divestitures or commercial financing matters to complex multi-defendant toxic tort claims, litigation, and multi-facility compliance matters. Marian works extensively with and appears before Federal and State regulators, and courts, has been certified as a LEED Green Associate by the U.S. Green Building Council, and has served as outside national environmental counsel to the firm’s major clients. She has authored and lectured extensively before the American and Maryland State Bar Associations, Defense Research Institute, Government Institutes, NAEM (National Association of Environmental Managers), National Business Institute, and corporations on various environmental subjects. She also has served on the boards of many community, civic and professional organizations, and currently is a member of the Judicial Nominating Commission for the Trial Courts of Baltimore City. Ms. Hwang has been named as one of The Best Lawyers in America (Environmental Law/Litigation) from 2007 to present.
