In 1993, Maryland Environmental Service (MES) was asked to begin operating the largest wastewater plant the agency had ever operated in the City of Cambridge in Dorchester County, MD. The plant provides services to city residents, as well as local businesses, including numerous restaurants, a Walmart, and a Hotel and Conference center. Its location on water-front property facing the Choptank River proved to be an extra challenge, requiring additional safeguards to protect local waterways.
