In 1999, MES entered into an agreement with Montgomery County to operate their Materials Recycling Facility (MRF). The dual-stream facility is unique in that it separates fiber (paper and cardboard) from the container stream (glass, plastic, and metal) producing a cleaner commodity stream than those produced in a single stream facility. This generally produces higher quality salable products.
