Leading the way to zero waste!
Leafgro GOLD® is helping lead the way to zero waste by composting food scraps with yard waste to create a useful soil amendment that’s enjoyed by homeowners and gardeners. Leafgro GOLD® is created by composting a mixture of yard waste and food scraps diverted from regional landfills. It is produced and marked by Maryland Environmental Service for Prince George’s County, Maryland.
Leafgro GOLD®
Leafgro GOLD® is created through composting at the Prince George’s County Organic Composting Facility. Composting is done continuously at the facility. After the composting process is completed, the composted material is dried and screened to remove any unwanted substances such as metals or plastic. Once completed, the product is sold exclusively in Prince George’s County under the registered trade name Leafgro GOLD®.
Recommended Uses:
- Establishing and topdressing lawns
- When planting trees, shrubs, perennials, annuals, and vegetables
- Complementing outdoor potting soil
- Customizing soil blends to meet content specifications (i.e., when planting green roofs and rain gardens)
Benefits of Using Leafgro GOLD®
- Adds extra nutrients compared to Leafgro® due to incorporated food scraps
- Fortified with mycelium to promote moisture and prevent erosion
- Safe to use around children and pets (but not recommended for ingestion)
