Water

Since January 2002, Maryland Environmental Service has proudly operated the Darlington Water System for the local community. The system was constructed in the 1950s, and although it had served the needs of the Darlington Community for many years, was badly in need of upgrades when Harford County approached Maryland Environmental Service in the early 1990s, to purchase and improve the aging system. The agency agreed to the purchase, and in 1998 began to retrofit the 50-year-old water system. The Maryland Department of the Environment helped fund the retrofit through a grant with MES providing the balance of the funding necessary to modernize the system.
